The Grand Cherokee L is available with either a 290 horsepower 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine or a 357 horsepower 5.7L HEMI V8 with either rear- or all-wheel drive; both engines come with an eight-speed automatic. Those looking for maximum towing capacity should opt for the HEMI, which can tow 7200 pounds. However, the V6 is no striking violet, it can haul 6200 pounds. Continuing Jeep’s legacy of off-road excellence, the Grand Cherokee L can be equipped with one of three all-wheel-drive systems, and an optional class-exclusive Quadra-Lift Air Suspension automatically lowers the vehicle at highway speeds to increase aerodynamics.
