Bald Eagle State Forest
Bald Eagle State Forest, located in Howard, PA, offers more than 200 miles of off-road trails for you to test your Jeep. Designed for all skill levels, the trails range in difficulty from beginner to advanced, clearly marked with trail signs noting their difficulty. Here, you can find a wide variety of terrain, from forested trails to rocky hills to stream crossings and more. A few trails offer scenic views of the forest and surrounding areas. For visitors to enjoy multiple days of off-roading, the forest offers numerous camping sites.
Rausch Creek Off-Road Park
Spread out over more than 3,000 acres, Rausch Creek Off-Road Park offers a wide selection of trails for drivers from beginner to advanced abilities. The trails are marked by color-coded levels; easy (green), intermediate (blue), difficult (black), and extreme (red). The park is exclusively designed for off-roaders, therefore there are no hikers, bikers, or walkers to look out for. Whether you want to get technical on a rocky hill climb or down and dirty in the mud pits, Rausch Creek Off-Road Park has a trail for every kind of off-roader. This park is also family-friendly, featuring an array of amenities like a concession stand, campsites, showers, and more. Additionally, off-roaders just beginning their off-road prowess can get guided tours of the park as well as lessons to get started on the right foot.
AOAA
AOAA, short for Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, is one of our state’s most popular off-roading parks. Offering over 1,000 miles of trails, the off-road park spans more than 6,500 acres. AOAA is so popular because of its wide variety of trails, ranging from scenic beginner trails to challenging rock crawls with muddy bogs and water crossings in between! Trails are clearly marked, allowing drivers to choose a trail based on their level of difficulty. In addition to off-roading, visitors can enjoy guided tours, lessons, picnic areas, fishing, biking, hiking, and camping. The trails of AOAA are open year-round, however, they will be closed due to overly wet or snow-covered trails to ensure the safety of visitors.
