What’s Under the Hood of the 2023 Jeep Compass?
Prior to 2023, the Compass came with a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine that provided it with 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. In 2023, however, the Jeep took the naturally-aspirated engine out and swapped in a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque! The engine’s new low-inertia, twin-scroll turbocharger uses an electronic-actuated wastegate. This setup gives the Compass rapid torque response and exciting performance on the main roads to the off-roads. Paired to the engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission powering Jeep’s Active Drive 4×4 system. Active Drive uses a power transfer unit and network of sensors to automatically shift between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive based on the vehicle’s traction or lack thereof.

There are a total of six trim levels in the 2023 Compass lineup, each with a unique set of features. Is the 2023 Jeep Compass Safe?
The Jeep Compass comes equipped with many advanced driver assistance technologies that other compact SUV manufacturers charge extra for.
