2022 Wagoneer vs Ford Expedition

With an overabundance of premium SUVs on the market, it can be hard to know which one has the best features for you and your family. Here at Humes Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we want to help narrow down your search, which is why we have taken two of the best luxury SUVs on the market in the 2022 Wagoneer and the Ford Expedition and compared their engines and features so you have a better idea of which one better suits your needs. Which one is superior? Continue reading below to find out!

2022 Wagoneer Power & Handling

While there is only one engine option available for the Wagoneer, it’s undoubtedly a powerful one! When you lift the hood, you will be greeted with a slick 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out an astonishing 392 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission which makes for an easy ride. Are you looking to haul around a ton of material? The Wagoneer should be your go-to vehicle as you can tow as much as 10,000 pounds! With all of this tremendous power comes some outstanding traction as there are three four-wheel-drive systems available known as the Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. But wait, that’s not all! Each version of the Wagoneer also has a Selec-Terrain management system with five different settings that allow the Wagoneer to go over everything in its path.

2022 Ford Expedition Power & Handling

The Ford Expedition tries to counter the Wagoneer with a couple of engine options. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 that delivers a pretty decent 380 horsepower. However, a better version of this engine which s available on the High Output, which adds more horsepower and torque. No matter which version of the engine you choose, it will pair with an automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive is the default setup, though four-wheel-drive is available if you prefer. Towing for the Expedition is fine as you can haul up to 9,300 pounds, which is less than what the Wagoneer can offer you. We are also disappointed that the Expedition doesn’t have four-wheel-drive as standard.

2022 Wagoneer Features & Design

While the Wagoneer is one of the most powerful SUVs on the market, it’s also one of the best equipped and technologically advanced vehicles ever created. It comes with two impressive trim levels. The first is the Series II, which comes with a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, tri-zone climate control, Nappa leather bench seats, 22-inch alloy wheels, a front-passenger screen, and a rear-seat entertainment package with dual 10.1-inch rear screens. The rear-seat entertainment system comes with Amazon Fire TV for auto. Other additional features for the Series II include a tri-pane sunroof, parallel and perpendicular parking programs, the 360-degree surround-view camera, and a head-up display. Want more unique features? The Series III ups the ante with 22-inch wheels, a 19-speaker McIntosh MX950 audio system, a heavy-duty towing package, a tri-pane sunroof power side steps, and Intersection Collision Assist.

2022 Ford Expedition Features & Design

There is a lot to like about the Ford Expedition as there are some fantastic technological features available. You have the option of a 12.4-inch high-definition gauge cluster with an information on-demand setup and driver-assist mode, off-road data, and turn-by-turn navigation. Also available is the latest version of the Ford Sync system that comes with a 12-inch touchscreen that allows you to control the navigation and your music with the touch of a button. For some excellent sound, there is the Bang & Olufsen audio system which blasts out of 22-speakers and advanced 360-degree sound. However, this is only available on higher trim levels. On the outside of the vehicle, there are LED headlights and taillights that have been revised. If you go with one of the higher-level trims, you will be treated to a twin-spar mesh grille along with chrome-accented fog lights. We like what the Expedition offers a lot, but if you want more advanced features, you’re better off with the Wagoneer!

Conclusion:

While the Ford Expedition puts up a good fight, the Wagoneer is still the ideal vehicle! The Wagoneer has several features that make it superior such as a powerful V8 engine and outstanding features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which the Expedition doesn’t have.
