I am determined to keep my new car looking nice for as long as possible! I have many people telling me that, with kids and plenty of driving time, it's just not realistic to keep it clean for long. But I'm optimistic, and I think with some routine, I can keep things looking clean!

Weekly Routine:

1. Empty all trash cans.
I have one in the front seat, and another for my kids in the back. We do take out trash as needed through the week, but on cleaning day, we make sure all the trash is out.

2. Vacuum out the car thoroughly.
I use the vacuum at the car wash and it usually takes me two cycles to get every nook and cranny. I vacuum the car seats and under the car seats, the floor mats and under the floor mats, the trunk, all the storage spaces, and, maybe most importantly, the door jams. I've found that there tends to be a lot of dirt built up there, even if I can't see it on a day to day basis.

3. Get the crumbs out of the crevices.
I use slime, clay, and toothpicks to get little crumbs out of seams. I know from my last car that if you let these areas go, they'll get clogged up fast, so I added it to my weekly routine.

4. Wipe everything down.
I use car wipes and get all the surfaces, then spray and a towel to clean the door jams and floor mat.

It probably takes about a half hour to complete the weekly process, which is well worth it!
