Don't you find it ironic that many of us travel to "get away from it all," yet pack as many of our belongings as possible? There's some figurative and literal baggage! Here are some tips to lighten the load:

·         Pack a smaller bag/suitcase than usual, it forces you to downsize!

·         Before you pack a thing, put all items into a pile then ask yourself what's necessary and what's not? Things deemed unnecessary go back on the shelf.

·         Clothing should be complementary colors so you can mix and match outfits with ease.

·         If you won't buy toiletries once at your destination, consider packing travel-size to maximum space.

·         Leave the gadgets behind. A laptop on the beach? That's just wrong!

·         If traveling overseas, bring a small amount of that region's currency to cover you upon arrival then finalize exchanging once established.

·         Even if you're not flying, think "carry-on" to size your packing appropriately.

·         Many of us think we'll wear a new outfit or accessorize differently when on vacation. The truth is, we'll just want comfort. So bring your favorite hoodie and leave those new pumps at home.

·         It's difficult to find travel-size toiletries like contact solution, so make your own. Squirt as much as you'll need for the duration into a smaller bottle and voila! Space saving at its finest.
