2018 Ram 1500 vs 2018 Ford F-150 near Erie, PA

The light-duty pickup truck segment is a competitive one, especially with the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2018 Ford F-150 crowding the market. The 2018 Ram 1500 is adding a special top-level Limited Tungsten edition, along with a Harvest edition to give you even more options for the 2018 model year. They're even giving you a standard rearview camera on all models. Ford is introducing a new 3.3-liter V6 engine and revises the front and rear styling to give it a fresh look. The Ram 1500 stands out from the crowd with a smooth ride, which is thanks to its class-exclusive coil-spring rear suspension, and powerful engines in its large lineup. It seems almost impossible that any other light-duty pickup truck can keep up with this 2018 Ram 1500.

2018 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

The Ram 1500, in the 2018 model year, comes standard with a powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine that can create 269 pound-feet of torque and 305 horsepower! That isn't the only engine available. There is also a 5.7-liter V8 engine that can generate 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. For those more interested in a diesel option, Ram has that for you, too! The 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine can produce 420 pound-feet of torque and 240 horsepower. All of these engines pair themselves with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the option between four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. These are amazing engine options, and whether you are looking for a gasoline engine, or a diesel engine, Ram is offering both!

2018 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

The 2018 Ford F-150 doesn't come with a single diesel option. Instead, this light-duty pickup truck starts off with a 3.3-liter V6 engine, which can only produce 265 pound-feet of torque and 290 horsepower. That isn't nearly as much power with the standard engine as the Ram offers. The other engines available are the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6, a 5.0-liter V8, and a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. The displacement with the V8 engine isn't particularly impressive, and while there are four engines offered, Ford is overcompensating by giving two different power grades and a ten-speed automatic transmission with three of these engine options. These are complicated engine options that still cannot compete, especially when there are no diesel engines available, and the Ram still outpaces the Ford F-150 with a 5.7-liter V8 engine option.

2018 Ram 1500 Features & Design

There are a whopping eleven different model levels available with the 2018 Ram 1500. From the Tradesman, which is a workhorse, to the luxurious Limited, there is a Ram 1500 for everyone, and we mean everyone. Even the base models feature something as luxurious and necessary as cruise control, along with making sure the exterior and interior reflect not just aggressiveness and durability, but a certain sense of style. Across the models, you'll be receiving features from bucket seats and cab configurations to leather upholstery and Bilstein shock absorbers. Whether you're looking for a light-duty pickup truck that focuses on the job, something that is perfect for the family, or something in between--with 11 model options, there's no doubt you'll find the model for you.

2018 Ford F-150 Features & Design

There are only six model options offered with the Ford F-150. The base trim does not come standard with cruise control and seems neglectful when it comes to the rugged nature of a pickup truck. Higher model options do have nice features, however, many of these features are hidden behind Luxury packages. Even if you do spend the money on a premium model, you'll have to dish out even more money for the packages.

The light-duty pickup truck segment is very crowded, but as it can be seen, there is one clear winner in this segment. The 2018 Ram 1500 outpaces the 2018 Ford F-150 by offering a diesel engine, a wider array of model options, and a smoothness of ride that can only be found in a Ram truck. Come visit us today to check out a Ram 1500 and see for yourself why we love this truck so much!
