Also in this class is the 2018 Toyota Highlander, which has some great standard features and safety equipment. Read more about each vehicle in the paragraphs below.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

The engine lineup for the Grand Cherokee is unparalleled. At its core, the Laredo trim starts you off with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The second tier Limited trim and beyond can upgrade to a 5.7-liter V8 engine, offering 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The SRT adds a 6.4-liter V8 with 475 hp, 470 lb-ft. Finally, the Trackhawk introduces you to a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with an astonishing 707 hp, 645 lb-ft. Depending on engine, each trim can be outfitted with either two- or four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Aside from engine power, the Cherokee has an excellent towing capacity of up to 3500 pounds, and the Trackhawk adds off-road skid plates, low range gearing, and adaptive suspension.

2018 Toyota Highlander Power & Handling

Toyota is less focused on engine power, offering only two choices on the Highlander. The base LE has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The second option, the standard for the rest of the trim levels, is a 3.5-liter V6 with 295 hp, 263 lb-ft. This engine, on par with Jeep's starting engine, comes with an eight-speed automatic and two or four-wheel drive are options.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

All seven of Jeep's trim levels, Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk, have many unique offerings. The Laredo has 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a six-speaker sound system. The popular Trailhawk adds off-road skills in the form of hill ascent and descent control, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, underbody skid plates, and an upgraded instrument cluster display with exclusive off-road features. The Trailhawk also adds desirable amenities like power-folding mirrors, ventilated front seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface, a navigation system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

2018 Toyota Highlander Features & Design

The Highlander has six choices of trim which are: LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited and the Limited Platinum. The LE is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, a rearview camera, rear air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, five USB ports, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player. It also has a lot to offer in the form of safety with the Toyota Safety Sense bundle which includes automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure intervention, and forward collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking. Advanced features on higher trims add a sunroof, heated front seats, a 360-degree parking camera and more. Toyota is lacking slightly in technology updates, as none of its Highlander models are compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone integration.

Both of these SUVs will provide you with a satisfying driving experience. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the clear standout for its superior engine power, off-road capabilities, and updated technology. To see our full lineup of Jeep offerings, visit the dealership today.
