2018 Dodge Grand Caravan vs 2018 Honda Odyssey near Erie, PA

Minivans have a long history of being chosen to fulfill the needs of families everywhere. Top priorities of minivan buyers are often the price, safety features, and how much storage availability exists. Two minivans that meet these needs are the Dodge Grand Caravan and Honda Odyssey. Both are great options to consider purchasing for the 2018 year.

2018 Dodge Grand Caravan Power & Handling

Each of the four trim levels of the Grand Caravan come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that has a commendable 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Advanced safety features that come with the GT include rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert to aid the driver on the road.

2018 Honda Odyssey Power & Handling

Honda also offers one standard engine for all of its trims. This engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. All trims offer front-wheel drive. Additionally, the first four trim levels pair with a nine-speed automatic while the top two trims, the Touring and Elite, come with a 10-speed automatic.

2018 Dodge Grand Caravan Features & Design

Base features for the Grand Caravan include 17-inch steel wheels, heated mirrors, remote locking and unlocking, tri-zone climate control, cruise control, a rearview camera, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a conversation mirror, a second-row bench seat and full power accessories. The highlighting feature of this vehicle, and what gives it a competitive edge, is its Stow & Go system that allows you to fold the second-row captain's chairs into the floor. This means there is no need to remove the chairs when not needed and allows the driver to optimize cargo space with ease. Optional packages include add-ons like a rear-seat entertainment system which is perfect for engaging young riders.

2018 Honda Odyssey Features & Design

There are six trim levels for the Honda Odyssey: LX, EX, EX-L, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. The LX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera,  automatic climate control, power front seats, a 5-inch central display screen, Bluetooth, a USB charging port, and a seven-speaker sound system with a USB interface. The EX brings more user-friendly features like power-sliding rear doors, keyless ignition and entry, and remote engine start. The Odyssey has improved its second-row seating functionality for 2018, but it still comes in second to the Grand Caravan's Stow n' Go. To remove the seats and fully utilize the space of the second row, the driver would have to remove them, and each seat weighs about 70 pounds each.

These minivans both have much to offer. The Honda Odyssey has updated many of its features for 2018, but can't match the convenience of the Grand Caravan's unique Stow n' Go system. For this reason, we recommend going with the Dodge Grand Caravan. Visit our dealership to test drive one today!
